Myth: “I can’t exercise when I fast”

Fact: Exercising in a fasted state can boost many of the beneficial effects of fasting (fat-burning, autophagy, growth hormone release)… and it is highly recommended for men to exercise while fasted. For women, exercising in a fasted state may create some metabolic stress, especially in the second half of the cycle, as we approach our period. It is useful to track your cycle and exercise more intensely (and while fasting) in the first half of the cycle or around ovulation when estrogen is more dominant, and when testosterone is highest.
