Get a good night’s sleep to improve your health
You know how it feels when you haven’t slept well.
But did you know that getting a good night’s sleep is one of the most important things you can do to improve your health?
Lack of sleep leads to some potentially serious health complications:
- High blood pressure
- Narrowing of the arteries
- Increased risk of heart attack and stroke
- Weight gain due to increased cravings and insulin-resistance
- High blood sugar
- Chronic inflammation
- Poor healing and slower recovery after injury
- Reduced immunity against infections
- Mood changes like anxiety and depression
- Menstrual changes, decreased sperm production and reduced fertility
- Decreased concentration, poor memory & reduced productivity
The amount of sleep we need depends on age: Babies need A LOT of sleep while older adults need less than 7 hours. If you are consistently getting fewer than 7 hours of good quality sleep, and particularly if you feel tired during the day… you probably need more sleep-time.
There are ways you can improve your sleep naturally and I will sharing tips to do just that over the next couple of weeks!
