FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long does Botox last?

Botox is a temporary solution. The effects are not permanent. The duration of the effects depends on the person, the area being treated and whether the person has been treated with Botox before. Typically, the effects last for 3-4 months and then the movement of the muscle returns to normal.

How long does it take for Botox to take effect?

It takes 3-4 days to start to see and feel the effects of Botox on the area that has been treated. On the face, this feels like a tightening/stiffening sensation. The effect continues to escalate and reaches a peak at 10-14 days after the injection. The effect then remains stable for 3-4 months.

Can I expect any side-effects?

Immediately after the injections, we often see small areas of redness and swelling surrounding each injection site. This lasts for 30-45 minutes and then settles down. Occasionally, there may be a little bruising but this also clears within 7-10 days.

Some people experience headaches in the first few days after Botox treatment. But generally, Botox is safe and does not cause any serious side-effects.

Can I return to work after having Botox injections?

Yes, there may be a little redness and swelling at the injection points but this settles pretty quickly and you can apply makeup or concealer if needed. Botox does not make you feel drowsy.

Can I drink alcohol after Botox injections?

Yes. You can enjoy your glass of wine. You do not need to avoid any specific foods or beverages.

Can I exercise after Botox injections?

Yes. Light exercise is fine. But a heavy high-impact exercise session like HIIT or Cross-Fit may cause changes in blood pressure, and place forces on the product that could cause the product to move. We usually recommend waiting until the following day to do a high-intensity workout.

Do I need any aftercare?

No, you do not need to apply any creams/products. You can continue with your normal routine and cosmetic products.

What kind of follow-up is needed?

Your doctor will usually request that you return after 10-14 days for a check-up and review of the effects. If needed, top-up injections can be done to give the optimal result.
