Achieve Your Goals
This is tip 5 of 7 in the series on how to make your resolutions a reality in 2025!
Break it down!
Most of us have ambitions that stretch over months or years.
We know that we will realistically only be able to achieve our goal in the future either because achieving that goal will practically take time (like saving enough money to buy a car), or because the goal is quite ambitious (like learning to dance the samba like a Brazilian).
We start out with great enthusiasm and the best intentions in the world… but life carries on and when we look again, we haven’t made any tangible progress towards our goal.
One very effective way of dodging this issue is by breaking the goal down into smaller, easier, and shorter-term milestones.
Instead of saying to yourself: I want to save 50 000 dollars to buy a new car this year, you could say: I am going to save 4 000 dollars every month (or even 1000 dollars every week) so that by the end of the year, I have the 50 000 dollars I need. Then, each month or each week you have a specific milestone to achieve. And with each step, you get closer to your end-goal.
Think about a specific goal you would like to achieve and break it down into smaller chunks. Write them down with dates on which you plan to achieve them and set yourself up for success.
